VACY Public School students have been learning about what it takes to become a great leader.

Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, John F. Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln are all names associated with being great leaders.

Many men and women have different thoughts about leadership.

A dictionary definition of a leader is someone or something that leads.

The sixth president of the United States, John Quincy Adams, made the inspiring statement that "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader"; words that are relevant to school leaders today.

The leaders of Vacy Public School are responsible for representing the other students.

In speeches to become school captain, students spoke about the values they thought were important such as responsibility, perseverance, honesty and tolerance.

Those are attributes that the Year 6 leaders at the school think help them to do their elected duties and also to be better adults in the future.

Teaching these values to children helps to ensure the future leaders of our country and the world are ones who may also be remembered in history.
